Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman. Buss is the founder and the president of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. Buss is a native of California and was raised as part of a wealthy family. Jerry Buss is her father. He was a real estate tycoon, and later the proprietor of Lakers as well as other companies. Her parents divorced in 1972. split together and she felt left out. At the age 19 she became the general manager for the Los Angeles Strings, a professional tennis club. The team was later renamed an organization called the Los Angeles Blades professional roller hockey team. She held the position of President of Great Western Forum prior to becoming the vice-president of Lakers. Buss as well as her five sisters were heirs to the Lakers majority ownership following the death of Buss' father in 2013. Each of the sisters had equal rights. The Lakers named her president.
